Director, Cloud Delivery Assurance
The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Director, Cloud Delivery Assurance to build and lead our new Cloud Delivery Assurance team within SaaS Platform Engineering in Pune or Bangalore, India, reporting to the VP, Engineering.
In this pivotal role, you will make release readiness a defensible, engineering-owned decision. You will establish a team of automation and delivery-assurance engineers, define the roadmap from manual and inconsistent release checks to an automated artifact-promotion pipeline, and own the quality gates that govern promotion of SaaS software from development clusters through integration and staging environments into production.
Collaborating closely with Solutions QA, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, CloudOps, application, and platform teams, you will create the integration-quality, automation, and production-readiness operating model that validates the combined system before customers experience it. You will establish trusted environments, shared tooling, and evidence-based release-readiness gates while complementing—not duplicating—the charters of Solutions QA, DevOps, and SRE.
You are the ideal candidate if you have built quality or delivery-assurance organizations from the ground up, are fluent in Kubernetes-based cloud platforms and CI/CD, and are comfortable making clear, data-backed decisions when the evidence does not support a release.
Be a Contributor — What You’ll Do
Build the CDA strategy, roadmap, operating model, and staffing plan; align scope, milestones, investment, and success measures with the SVP, Platform Engineering and peer engineering leaders
Hire, lead, coach, and develop a team of one technical project manager and eight software development engineers in test; establish the team charter, operating cadence, engineering standards, and inclusive culture
Own the automated artifact-promotion pipeline from CI build and security-scan validation through development-cluster smoke testing, integration and certification runs, staging certification, and production promotion
Define, implement, and enforce quality gates for each promotion decision, including entry and exit criteria, required evidence, hold-and-return behavior, risk acceptance, and rollback expectations
Serve as the accountable approver for promotion of SaaS software across development, integration, staging, and production environments; make go/no-go recommendations defensible with data
Establish a common test-automation framework, shared libraries, and fit-for-purpose test environments for API, integration, end-to-end, regression, performance, and deployment-verification testing
Apply AI-assisted engineering tools, including code assistants, test-generation capabilities, and intelligent analytics, to improve productivity, expand meaningful test coverage, identify risk patterns, and support—not replace—engineering judgment
Govern responsible use of AI-generated code and test assets through human review, security and privacy controls, traceability, and measurable quality outcomes
Deliver readiness scorecards, quality and risk heatmaps, coverage and escape-rate metrics, defect trends, mean-time-to-detect measures, and environment and release status for engineering leadership
Partner with Solutions QA on end-to-end functional coverage and release sign-off, and with SRE on stress, scale, high availability, disaster recovery, and chaos testing
Be Prepared — What You Bring
Fifteen or more years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, test automation, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or delivery assurance, including five or more years leading and growing engineering or QA teams
Proven success defining and delivering quality, automation, and release-readiness strategies for cloud-native SaaS platforms
Deep understanding of Kubernetes, Linux, containers, public cloud environments such as AWS or GCP, distributed systems, and microservices
Strong command of CI/CD practices, including pipeline design, artifact promotion, progressive delivery, canary releases, deployment verification, and automated quality gates using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo, or Spinnaker
Expertise in test-automation architecture across API, integration, end-to-end, regression, performance, and production-readiness testing, with the technical depth to review designs and code
Experience building metrics-driven programs using measures such as coverage, escape rate, defect trends, mean time to detect, release risk, and environment stability
Practical experience using AI-assisted development, test-generation, analytics, automation, content-generation, or decision-support tools, with an understanding of responsible AI practices and appropriate human oversight
Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across QA, SRE, DevOps, product, application, and platform teams while maintaining a consistent quality bar under delivery pressure
Experience hiring and scaling engineering teams in India, preferably across distributed or multi-site environments, and building an inclusive, high-accountability culture
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field; a master’s degree is a plus
Be Successful — Your Path
First 90 Days: Immerse in our culture, connect with mentors through Blox Buddies, and map the systems and meet with key stakeholders that rely on your work. Discuss and create short/long-term goals.
Six Months:
Operate automated build and development-cluster validation gates for every release candidate, with promotion decisions recorded and evidence collected automatically
Establish the common test-automation framework and shared libraries, with regression suites running on a predictable schedule against a protected certification baseline
Launch readiness scorecards and quality-risk reporting, including AI-assisted aggregation and analysis of release evidence with human review and clear auditability
Complete staffing and onboarding for the CDA team, with the technical project manager driving milestones, dependencies, and stakeholder communications
Define baseline measures for coverage, escape rate, defect trends, environment stability, and release-cycle efficiency; use the data to prioritize improvements
One Year:
Establish CDA as the mandatory release-readiness gate for the SaaS platform, with staging certification and production-promotion decisions consistently supported by objective evidence
Automate critical regression coverage for release candidates and demonstrate measurable improvement in customer-found defects and release
